Projects

The TTP-Foundation supports the research of Dr. Charis von Auer (previous research was done by Professor Inge Scharrer), and has provided funding of EUR 100,000 up until January 2020. Dr. Charis von Auer is Head of Hemostaseology at the outpatient clinic for diagnosis and treatment of coagulopathies and TTP at the Mainz University Medical Center.

The TTP-Foundation has supported the following research projects:

• establishing a register for patients with acquired TTP: http://www.ttp-register.org
• working mechanism of the causal agent
• examination of endothelial damage
• search for other enzymes causing TTP
• research on the trigger mechanism of TTP

Funds have been used to pay the salaries of Ph.D. students working in this field and to cover the cost of the reagent kits required to conduct research on TTP.
